As much as nurses have been giving of their care and time recently, a lot of people have been looking for ways to give back to them and the medical community. If you’re finding yourself wanting to make a difference and support nurses, here’s 10 ideas for things you can do.
Want to know a great way to make a nurse’s day? Buy them lunch or coffee! A quick Venmo payment to a hardworking nurse you know will brighten their day and let them know you’re thinking of them.
Nurses providing COVID-19 care are finding themselves with little time to do much else these days. If you have the time and capacity to, consider dropping off groceries and supplies for them – safely distanced, of course. They’ll be grateful of the help, and potentially the extra moment to rest.
Looking for ways to get involved? Consider volunteering with your local Red Cross chapter, helping with testing sites, assisting with blood drives, or delivering much-needed supplies. If you’re a nurse, we’ve also compiled a list of organizations you can volunteer with here.
Surprisingly, a lot of nurses (especially nursing students) are still having to pay to park at the facilities they’re working in. Call local facilities to see how you can help cover these fees, or if there is anything else they’re in need of.

One of the absolute best things you can do to support nurses and the healthcare community is to stay home as often as you can to stay healthy, reduce transmission rates, and keep people out of hospitals.
